Columbia Lakewood Community Church has an active Community Outreach Program. our congregation seeks to have an impact in the community, even among those who do not worship with us on Sunday morning. We accomplish this by sharing our building with outside user groups and local non profit organizations who meet regularly in our fellowship hall, class rooms and boardrooms.
The Lakewood Cooperative neighborhood preschool uses the entire lower level of our building, Monday thru Friday — September thru June. other groups that use our building include the Rainier Valley Little League. Various local non profits also use our space for benefit concerts and fundraising dinners; for example The Total Experience Gospel Choir and The Fellowship of Reconciliation. Our doors and hearts are also open to local couples who seek to be married and for funeral/memorial services for members of our community in their time of need.
As a congregation, part of our outreach to the wider community is lived out through our commitment to feeding the homeless at the Union Gospel Mission. We also send clothing and children’s school supplies to the Mission’s Women’s and Family Shelter. Our congregation also supports camp Koinonia our conference camp set in the forest in Cle Elum, WA.
In all that we do, we seek to share the love of Christ and the joy that he gives to his faithful, loving disciples at Columbia Lakewood Church.
